Installation:
To install these files, you need to have a copy of the Talking Mouse application available from:
www.zdnet.com/macuser/software.html
First, open up the application. When it finishes loading, choose "Use Face…" and locate the Marathon Marine face file. Then choose "Use Phrases…" and locate the file "Marine Phrases". Now select a delay time from the "Pause" menu. (This is how long you must wait before Talking Mouse says something.) You can now put an alias of Talking Mouse is the Startup Items folder located in your system folder. (This will launch Talking Mouse every time you start up your computer.
What It Is:
Marathon Marine is a set of two files for use with the Talking Mouse application. It puts a picture of a marine from the game Marathon on your screen. Every few seconds (or minutes) that you are idle, he will show up and say something to you. (His mouth actually moves!) If you have ever seen Apple's Plaintalk speech recognition, you have already seen what this looks like. (Except Talking Mouse doesn't use speech recognition.)

My favorite: The M2 Jet Pack Physics Model
Gives you a jet pack instead of the assault rifle (so you can use it right away). When you press the fire key, you fly forward. It sounds like the flame thrower. Since you have your fist out while you are flying, if you fly into someone, they splatter and usually die instantly. You can also chuck bouncing grenades with the second trigger. With the jet pack, you can fly over those obstacles and even blow yourself out a window! (For an example, use the model in level one of M2 and go downstairs and get the AR (jet pack). Now go back up to where you started and face one of the windows. While holding down the forward key, activate the pack. Keep holding both keys down. The pressure will build up and shoot you out the window into the lake below.) For maximum control over the jet pack, hold down the back key while flying. Otherwise you will speed out of control and may build up such a force that you will get stuck for a few seconds! One more use is if you are trying to run away from something, the jet pack is much faster than just running. Try it out!
Useful power weapon: The M1 Antimatter .44 Magnum
Gives you the most powerful weapon available: The Antimatter .44. One round will kill any alien in Marathon. Useful if you want to get past a hard enemy. Comes with a small shapes patch and a story.
Major carnage: The AKMFMSRFMG Hyper-Nuke Rifle M1 & M2
Feel like some carnage? No better way to fulfill your desires than with a quality Hyper-Nuke rifle. Gives you a high-powered, rapid fire, missile launching gun! Watch those Pfhor splat!!
